Yum. that's good mom. Ways for kids to eat healthy

Do you make your kids eat healthy? Do you introduce new foods to their life? How do you cook?

These are some of the questions you may need to ask yourself when it comes your children eating plan.  My family has now been on a 10 month binge of no fast food. We cook every night and my kids have grown to love cooking with fresh ingredients and plates are empty. Getting kids to eat healthy isn't as hard as you may think. Stock up on frozen veggies, fruits and whole grain foods.  Steamed and sauté veggies seamed to be my kids favorite. You can't go wrong with fruit, let your kids explore the sweet tasting fruits that are at your local super market. Fruits are packed with vitamin C and antioxidant. These are great during the cold winter months to fight off germs that make us sick. In stead of hamburger meat, switch to turkey meat it has more flavor.  No More Process Foods and Stay out the pre-made dinner meals. Show your skills!
You have to want this for you and your family.  Choosing what they eat sets them up for success and healthy self-esteem. You don't have to give them chips, candy, and soda everyday. Discover ways to give them calcium, vitamin D and protein. Never say you don't have enough time to cook; make time for your little ones. Buy a cook book make your favorite foods and share with your kids. My favorite is www.foodnetwork.com it has tons of receipes, plates will be spotless. Talk about winning! Start by cooking at home 3 times a week and go from there. Even making weekly menus will help by keeping money in your pocket.  Lowering childhood obesity starts with us parents.  Giving them unhealthy foods is parallel with giving them a ciggarette.
